What is Spay Desoto?

Spay Desoto is a resource guide to help pet owners find affordable spay and neuter services for cats and dogs in Desoto County, MS and surrounding areas. As our state ranks highest in poverty levels, it’s unsurprising most residents struggle to afford veterinary care for our beloved pets. Thanks to these local low-cost options below,  you’ll see being a responsible pet owner is actually more affordable than you think.

Spay Memphis, our nearest HQHV spay/neuter clinic, offers deeply discounted surgery and wellness services, as well as grant-funded discounts for qualifying applicants when available.

Pals of Paws Society (Hernando)

Desoto County’s local animal rescue group Pals of Paws Society, a volunteer-ran organization aiming to reduce our homeless pet overpopulation by offering steeply reduced feline surgical costs and increasing access to affordable veterinary care, is now offering residents $55.00 per cat Spay and Neuter Services and Free Community Vaccination Clinics (when supplies allow) to help all residents be responsible pet owners regardless of financial circumstances.
Cats only: $55.00 (includes spay/neuter surgery, FVRCP vaccine, and rabies vaccine)

Homeless Animals Relief Project (Senatobia)

Low cost cat spay and neuter program for low income pet owners and feral/unsocialized homeless cats of north MS. Call (662) 292-0922 for more information or to see if you qualify. Leave a voicemail detailing your request for discounted pricing and include if the cat(s) you’re seeking assistance for are pets or ferals.

Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County

Spay/Neuter voucher which can be used at any of (5) participating veterinary clinics to reduce base spay and neuter surgical costs to $55 for cats and dogs.

The Humane Society also offers low-cost vaccinations and spay/neuter services to qualifying applicants, though this program has income requirements to qualify. 

No income requirements are necessary to receive the spay/neuter voucher.

Snowden Grove Animal Hospital offers reduced spay/neuter pricing and a 25% discount on pain/antibiotic medication to any Desoto County shelter animal NOT spayed/neutered prior to adoption within (30) of adoption date. With proof of recent adoption paperwork, the price for Cat S/N is $55 and Dog S/N is $85 (<50lbs) $95 (>50lbs) and can be scheduled by calling 662-536-1916.

The above pricing includes: surgical procedure, post op medications, and a cone/e-collar to prevent the pet from disturbing/infecting/chewing on the surgical site, and a rabies vaccine if proof of current vaccination status is not available.

Pets older than 6 years of age will be required pre-op blood work at a fee of $80. If your cat does not arrive in a carrier one, please note that one will be provided to you at a fee of $10.

Mississippi Spay And Neuter Initiative is a 501c3 non-profit, volunteer run organization whose goal is to share awareness about our state’s ongoing crisis situation and to promote, educate and provide resources for individuals seeking out spay and neuter for their pets or their community. They also allow individuals to request spay/neuter financial assistance via their Application For Free Spay And Neuter Funding, but please note their full policies and restrictions for eligibility on their website prior to applying.

Mississippi Spay And Neuter Initiative’s “Find A Low Cost Provider” Search Tool

The Mississippi Animal Rescue League (MARL) offers a low cost spay/neuter program at participating veterinary clinics in the state of Mississippi to qualified applicants. An application, found HERE must be submitted to MARL and you’ll need to check your city/county to see if there’s a participating vet in your area. Price is only applicable if the vet office selected has elected to become a partner in the LCSN Program.

COST: $30 cat / $45 dog 

***INCOME REQUIREMENTS APPLY. To qualify for the program, applicants must receive one of the following: Medicaid, Medicare, VA Disability, Social Security Disability, Current Unemployment Benefits, Social Security Retirement, Food Stamps, Aid to dependent Children. Proof of low income required.

Yalobusha County residents are eligible to apply for a FREE S/N voucher [low income residents] or a LOW COST S/N voucher [non low income residents] by submitting an online application to Second Chance Animal Alliance.

The Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelterwith the support of the AC Board of Supervisors is proud to have ACSpay. This  program will provide low-cost spaying for female dogs owned by ALL Alcorn County Residents. If you live in Corinth and Alcorn County, Mississippi, the cost is $25 will include the procedure and a rabies vaccination.
